Who we are...

Kenneth and Kwanza Bowe

Kenneth (AKA "KB") created, developed and operates "Chat 'N' Chill", a new restaurant concept that he calls "Barefoot Elegance." The beach bar and grill is located on The Pointe at Stocking Island, where boaters nicknamed Volleyball Beach for the 6 volleyball courts that are available for your pleasure. Since the day it opened it's doors in March of 1998, boaters, yachties and visitors have been returning every year to visit KB and the staff. Chat 'N' Chill is a unique place for meeting friends from around the world and is known for its relaxing "very hip and upscale-yet still casual" (Fodor's Bahamas) atmosphere. Each year, KB & Chat 'N' Chill host many special events from parties, weddings and receptions, family reunions and anniversaries to corporate meetings and events. KB is in the process of adding on an additional bar by the conch salad stand and his future plans for his Stocking Island jewel are to add a large covered reception area, design and build luxury cottages and a small marina.

When KB met Kwanza, she was the vice president of a travel and ticket brokerage agency in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Kwanza received her Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) professional training from The Travel Institute and Accredited Cruise Counselor (ACC) specialization from the Cruise Lines Industry Association (CLIA). As professional travel consultant and ticket broker, Kwanza already had a passion for creating memorable experiences for people. Among her duties were creating, planning and organizing group travel events for corporate incentives, students and families.

Kwanza always dreamt of having a destination wedding one day; however she never knew that her future husband would actually own the perfect island destination in paradise. When KB proposed to Kwanza, she couldn't think of a better place than to have her dream wedding on their own private beach on Stocking Island. At the time there were no wedding consultants offering extensive planning services for Exuma wedding locations. So Kwanza planned every detail from Atlanta, enlisting the help of close friends and family both in Exuma and Atlanta for ideas and shopping assistance. Kenneth and Kwanza Bowe were married on Stocking Island on October 18, 2003.

Kwanza was professionally trained by and is a Certified Wedding Specialist of Weddings Beautiful Worldwide. Kwanza is a graduate of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism's Bahamahost Programme, and a tourism partner of Bahamas Ministry of Tourism's Exuma Tourist Office. Her extensive experience in planning group travel events, transportation logistics and details were ideal skills to transfer to the wedding planning business because of the attention to detail required to make a bride's wedding dreams come true. Kwanza shares her vast knowledge of travel and event coordinating when coordinating weddings and receptions. Her expertise in catering and food and beverage are essential in planning receptions. Kwanza brings love, excitement, skill and understanding to her bride and groom. Her dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to her clients are evident in her attitude. She has a unique ability to transform your visions into reality.

Kwanza holds a bachelor of arts degree from Spelman College with a major in Economics and a minor in management and organization. Kwanza is a lifetime member of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. When Kwanza is not planning private island weddings for her clients, you can find her indulging in one of her personal interests: spending time with family, Taebo, reading, keeping up with wedding trends, designing new merchandise, learning website design, cooking and entertaining friends, listening to jazz music and traveling. She is also a blog and forum junkie.

Today, KB and Kwanza live on the island of Great Exuma with their son, K. Delano, Jr.
